ITU HOSPITAL BAYS

BAY 5
A recent project involving the transformation of six rooms in the Intensive Treatment Unit of Warwick Hospital. The objective of the project being the rooms would have a ‘less clinical’ feel that the often cold and impersonal all-white surfaces associated with hospital bays.
The client had access to a collection of images from photographer Chris Day, who works at the Trust as Head of Governance.. We worked closely with healing space specialist Virginia, from Art Contact, to select and modify appropriate images for murals and consider how to best fit the spaces in each bay. Mindful of equipment and window placement without compromising on overall finish.

Bays 1, 2, 3 and 6 each display a beautiful landscape mural, created from Chris Day’s photos, extending the entirety of the wall. Large format prints fix in waterproof framing on the wall of bay 4. In Bay 5, the client decided on a repeating scene to continue around the whole room: ‘Silver Lining’ – a custom piece by Diane Maybey, one of our guest designers.

Each mural and scene were printed onto speciality Digimura smooth paper – a wipeable media containing a biocide to provide antibacterial and antifungal properties. A backing ensures for excellent impact resistance and durability in high traffic areas. Printed with odourless, water-based inks guarantees the ideal solution for wall-coverings in healthcare spaces.

“I like to be on site to visualise a space for myself, so was slightly apprehensive working remotely for Claret. However, the team at Claret not only helped to visualise the space remotely, but worked tirelessly to execute my vision of how the artwork could be laid out with various tweaks made along the way. It was a pleasure to work with Claret and I look forward to collaborating with them again.”

“We are so pleased with the images and look forward to the patients appreciating them too. Clare was fantastic from start to finish in ensuring the project ran smoothly and was completed in a timely manner”
