THE MACGREGOR WARD
We set out with a brief to create a calming and less clinical space for children in the MacGregor Ward - continuing the sea-life theme from other areas in the hospital. A thoughtfully designed interior space provides a soothing atmosphere which has been proven to reduce the anxiety of patients. Across the Ward, we have created a calming environment through a number of wallcoverings installed in the Adolescence Chill Out Area, Sensory Room and Quiet Room. Our guest designer Diane Maybey, painted a beautifully tranquil mural -'Silver Lining' - and complimentary dreamy sea animals to be used in Warwick Hospital for repeatable scenes for wall art.
This five panel repeating scene would be installed into two spaces in the MacGregor Ward: The Adolescent Area and the Sensory Room. Both areas would have different colour palettes to create a distinct separation between the two areas. The Adolescent Area is wrapped in a teal 'Sea Breeze' version of the 'Silver Lining' with sea animals super imposed to swim through the scene. In The Sensory Room, the mural is cropped to 800mm to fit above the panelling on walls; recoloured to with calming lavenders and deep purple incorporating small teal accents to tie in
Both designs printed onto speciality Digimura smooth paper – a wipeable media containing a biocide to provide antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. A backing ensures for excellent impact resistance and durability in high traffic areas. Printed with odourless, water-based inks guarantees the ideal solution for wall-coverings in healthcare spaces.
