The project objective was to create a more calming space for patients as they await appointments.

The current, clinical waiting areas can cause patients to become anxious. The goal of the project will be to create more gentle, relaxing rooms with the aim to reduce nerves as it is important that heart rates are not overly high for procedures. Working  to budgets and using a collection of images approved from our healing space contact, with the Endoscopy staff to choose designs and patterns to best fit the space and objective of the project.

Reception Area:

A large 1.5m acrylic print fills the wall of the reception area. A beautiful woodland scene, photographed and donated by Chris Day, who works at the Trust as Head of Governance. The image is then reverse printed and backed in white ink for depth of colour and scratch resistance. Chrome threaded screw caps fix this piece with a vandal resistant and easy to clean result.

Female Waiting Area:

Diane Maybey’s ‘Meadow Kisses Wallpaper’ in ‘Dove Grey’. This ditsy print fills the room with varying flowers, hand drawn from Welsh Meadows, infusing a space with nature’s positivity.

We printed each design onto our Digimura smooth paper – a wipeable media containing a biocide to provide antibacterial and antifungal properties. A backing ensures for excellent impact resistance and durability in high traffic areas. Printed with odourless, water-based inks guarantees the ideal solution for wall-coverings in healthcare spaces.

In the Male waiting area, ‘Flights of Fancy’ by Juliet Bawden in ‘Cinerea’. This triple drop scene, created from delicate cyanotype feathers, adds depth and dimension to the space. Soft texture and peaceful colours bring a sense of calm.

The Quiet Room:

Hand-painted foliage cascades down the walls of this room in the form of Juiet Bawden’s Wisteria & Vines, Mellow Scene. Delicate paintings holds the space in a gentle repeating design.
